On The 18th of November, we launched our Skills 4 Life programme.
Skills 4 Life are visual indicators that the recipient has achieved a certain level of knowledge or demonstrated competence in a particular skill which is celebrated with a woven badge and an accompanying certificate identifying the skill and the issuing member of staff/ school governor. This verifies that it is genuine and awarded to the stated person. Each woven badge is composed of an image with additional information inserted into it, typically stage/level of achievement.
Our Skills 4 Life program offers tangible recognition of key life areas—from independence to leadership—affirming each child’s growth and achievements along the way. We reinforce a reflective practice culture by regularly reviewing outcomes and seeking feedback from children, families, and staff, ensuring our curriculum remains responsive and effective.
The six badges, along with 3 key words associated to the skill are:
- Health- Food, hygiene, physical activity
- Independence– Trust, maturity, safety
- Belonging– Caring, helping, friendship
- Leadership led– Teaching, supporting, role model
- Explorer – Curiosity, guidance, outdoors -outdoor activity
- Safety– Safety rules, first aid, fire safety
When a child has met a certain amount of the assessment criteria, they are awarded a certificate, woven badge and they ring the WPS bell to celebrate their victory. Enjoy some images of our celebration assemblies.
