As part of our topic ‘1066’ we went to London to visit the British Museum. On 14 October 1066 Duke William of Normandy defeated King Harold II at the Battle of Hastings. It remains one of the most famous events in English history. The Norman victory had a lasting political impact on England and coincided with cultural changes across Europe. The exhibition told the story of the Norman Conquest through objects.
